The award winning music video for Free, from Rhea Mehta’s EP Soul Ceremony, directed by visionaries @neginsairafi, director of photography @prasann and choreographed by @its_miss_masala and @xojoycelo, was a beautiful collaboration of love that I had the privilege of participating in as a movement artist.

Free is based on the ancient Sanskrit Asatoma Mantra, used by Rhea’s ancestors and by yogis all around the world to help guide us towards our truest nature and liberate us from the constraints of the physical world. This music video is an ode to women everywhere, honouring our magic and strength and calling for our liberation.

Zayah is a meditative film experience, a portal to another realm, an artistic exploration of the cycles of life, death and rebirth.  Written, directed & Produced by Negin Sairafi, this collaborative film project seeks to create a series of audio/visual meditations which incorporate experimental movement, performance and choreographed dance to explore the themes of ritual, ceremony, attachment, struggle, awakening and liberation. The scenes and vignettes are intended to invite, captivate, and provoke audiences to connect more deeply to the conscious and subconscious aspects of their being and in turn to their shared human condition. Vanessa had the honour of participating as a movement artist in this creative project.
